The leather wrapped sword toting besties Musketeers (3/4)
Version: A Romantic Hero Type Aramis

hurinthalions:

there’s some misinformation going around in a meta about how bucky is so broken during zola’s experiments that he’s just repeating his name and rank, etc. to try and remember who he is

while that’s extremely heartrending, that’s not why he’s stating his name and rank

in the 1950 geneva conventions relative to the treatment of prisoners of war article 17, soldiers are required to give only their “surname, first names and rank, date of birth, and army, regimental, personal or serial number, or failing this, equivalent information.” (x) though this is only legalized in the rules of war in 1950, well after wwii, this is only standardizing practice that had occurred in the last war and it’s pretty likely that the united states was training its soldiers to give only that much information up to someone that had captured them.

bucky giving up only his name, rank, and status isn’t him breaking down. in fact, it’s the complete opposite. him only giving the little information he did is a giant fuck you to zola and hydra and he stayed strong until the very end

does The Agents Of SHIELD have anything to do with current marvel movies?? Like it does, duh, but does it like give some sort of extension to the movies?

I mean it’s taking place in the same universe and timeline, they had an episode that aired ‘after’ the Dark Elf invasion of London and they were cleaning up (finding the remaining alien tech and taking it back to SHIELD) and then recently after the events of the Winter Soldier the latest episodes are dealing with that whole thing (no spoilers in case you/others haven’t seen TWS)

um so lemme get this straight…tiana starts her own business in a time where black women had next to no rights….mulan pretty much saves china and becomes a top ranking military official….but the annoying sister in frozen makes a throwaway line about being gassy and gets lauded as the the first feminist princess??

(As a child who grew up on an Orthodox Seminary as my father worked his way to the deaconite I absolutely agree with your last couple of tags: The more I learned and studied (even just for myself) the faster my beliefs became simply morals-based.)

honestly that’s all i’m saying!

im not saying it’s evil and i’m not saying im evil :p

im just saying going to church/the mosque/place of worship is not everyone’s cup of tea and wish my traditionalist parents had that viewpoint :/

im laughing so hard my mom's side of the family is supposed to be so catholic, and i don't think any of us are going to church, and our get together dinner is at a bbq restaurant in the sticks instead of at someone's house with food blessed at the polish church my grandpa went to. if you end up going laugh sarcastically at everything and know that i, like jesus, am with you. forever and ever amen. :P

Yeah you don't get "brownie points" with Jesus by going to church, but as a Christian I personally do think it's important, to offer another point of view. You get instruction in your faith from church leaders for one. And the church itself has always meant to be a way to support and be supported by other believers (kind of like the tumblr community to make a weird fandom/religion analogy). But it is hard to find a church that's a good fit, and having to be there against your will is pointless.

Thanks I appreciate the run-down!

But I guess for me it’s become a bit tedious, hearing the same sermons every single holiday and Sunday before that. And tbh I never got that ‘church as family/community’ vibe though I’ve been told about it—I’ve just never experienced that feeling, I guess because I’m so reluctant to go all the time!

I’m religious but I never go to church. I mean, I want to but I won’t have the time when I go back to school and none of the churches in my area are satisfactory. Like, churchgoing has nothing to do with faith :/

BOLDED because this is something my parents don’t seem to understand.
